Gerard Powell is a Melbourne-based consultant orthopaedic surgeon in public hospital and private practice since 1996.

He has special interest and expertise in dealing with arthritis of the hip and knee, joint replacement surgery, as well as soft tissue & bone tumours.

He retains interest in general orthopaedics and has had a long experience of providing orthopaedic services in a rural setting. Other than for tumour conditions, he does not treat paediatric or spinal disorders.

At this time Mr Powell is not seeing TAC or WorkCover patients.

Mr Powell has completed a number of post-graduate fellowships in Australia and abroad including:

• Joint Replacement
• Adult Reconstructive Surgery
• Shoulder Surgery
• Musculoskeletal Tumours

Mr Powell sees patients with

• Arthritis – particularly of hip or knee
• Soft tissue injuries
• Benign tumours
• Sarcoma (bone and soft tissue)
• Metastatic cancer of bone
